Just a short 10 minute drive from our hotel in Cambria, the Hearst Castle is perched high in the California hills, a National Historic Landmark and one of the nation’s most inspiring architectural gems. Built by newspaper tycoon William Randolph Hearst and his highly skilled architect Julia Morgan, the 90,000-square-foot property is renowned for its opulent decor, dramatic ocean views and history as a Hollywood haven in its golden era.
Moonstone Beach & Leffingwell’s Landing
Collect luminous Moonstones on the meditative shores of Moonstone Beach, just a short walk from Leffingwell’s Landing, a state picnic ground that features mild tidal pools and great oceanfront wildlife viewing opportunities.
The older East Village contains Victorian houses dating from the 1870's. In the newer West Village, the street passes below newer houses built on the steep slope of the hillside. In both Villages, you will various boutiques, galleries and distinct restaurants.

Looking for something a little different from the Hearst Castle? Well Nitt Witt Ridge is essentially the exact opposite. The eccentric Arthur Beal built the dwelling over the course of five decades from items salvaged from junkyards and waste-bins. The house is now open to the public and available for tours, by appointment.
This quaint village just south of Cambria has a population of only 18, yet it is home and headquarters to one of America’s finest glassmakers. Carl Radke, the proprietor of Phoenix Studios and Glassworks, is a respected public figure whose works are prized as some of the most original objects of art in the region. This is an absolute must-see for collectors. Wine tasting can also be enjoyed in the town of Harmony.
